Phenotype
The way the genes are expressed or shown, usually in its physical form. Genotype The makeup of the genes, or how the genes are made up. Gene The makeup of the genes, or how the genes are made up. Chromosome A structure that carries genetic information in the form of genes. Recessive Trait A trait that is only expressed if it is homozygous. Dominant Trait A trait that can be expressed when it is heterozygous or homozygous. Co-Dominance When both traits of a heterozygous pair are expressed together, neither one is above the other. Incomplete Dominance When the traits are combined and show a new phenotype of the genes. |
DNA Structure
DNA is made of a sugar phosphate backbone and the base pairs, cytosine, guanine, thymine, and adenine. DNA Replication
A disorder that occurs due to having either too many and or not enough chromosomes. Allele Variation of a gene. Karyotype A karyotype is the number and appearance of chromosomes in the nucleus of a eukaryotic cell. Homozygous When the chromosomes are the same, and the genotype has the same alleles. Heterozygous When the chromosomes are different and the genotype has different alleles. |
